It happened again! The Erlangen Sharks lost to the Starnberg Argonauts 48 to 16 away in Starnberg. There's no excuse for losing but.....
With their victory, the Argonauts clinch first place in the Verbandsliga Bayern and get to move up a league next year. The Sharks own second place and have to beat the Bamberg Bears in their last game to guarantee finishing in that spot.

Monday Morning QB Analysis for Game 9
Why we lost....
First. It seemed the Starnberg Defense was very familiar with our running game. A lot more frequently than in all the others games this season, the Defense crashed through or went around our Offensive Line to break up the play in the backfield or make the tackle at the line of scrimmage.
Second. As a general rule, the running game is very physically demanding; more so that the passing game. Accordingly, the physicality of the Sharks running game wore down its own Offensive players a lot quicker than the Starnberg Offensive players with their passing game. Coupled with the ineffectiveness of the Sharks running game (see first point above), this meant that the Sharks worked a lot harder for the same number of yards on a drive than the Starnberg Offensive did with their 20, 30 and 40 yard pass plays.
Third. The Sharks were tough and made many first downs but they took 3 or 4 plays each. With this "wearing down factor" of the Sharks Offensive drives, by the time the Sharks made it to the red zone their players were so exhausted that they had little chance to complete the drive successfully.
Of course, "Monday Morning Quarterbacking" like this is not always accurate or fair. The Sharks gave it their all and have no one to blame; but maybe the analysis here has some worth to it and could be useful for future games.
